Omega Becomes A Quartet

October 26, 2013 By: Aaron Category: Omega, SG Artists, SG Industry News, SG Music

RickShortly before NQC, it was announced that Kevin Harry, a fill-in lead for the Dixie Melody Boys, was joining this trio from Georgia. The group has been on main stage as showcase winners for several years. Now, the group announces, they are adding a bass singer:

On the very recent heels of hiring Kevin Harry as their new lead singer, OMEGA prayerfully made the decision to become a quartet!

After several discussions, a close friend of the group called with a name and a huge recommendation. Phone calls were made and an audition weekend was scheduled. It only took one sound check singing a few songs and the group knew they had found the right man for the job.

OMEGA is pleased to announce that Rick Walls will be the new bass singer for the group. Rick is no stranger to Southern Gospel. He sang bass for the Grand Strand Gospel Hour at the Gatlin Bros Theatre in Myrtle Beach, and most recently toured with the Holy City Quartet. Jeff Chapman of the Kingdom Heirs states, “I think Rick is a fine bass singer and will be a great addition to Omega”.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity the Lord has given me to minister with the three anointed men from Omega. Their passion and desire to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ is something that I am looking forward to being a part of for many years to come”, says Rick.

Doug Pittman, group owner, says “Rick is the full package! His enthusiasm and love for the Gospel is evident in all that he does. Not only does he have a great bass voice, he also has a heart for people. This partnership between Rick and Omega is perfect and God ordained. He sees eye to eye with our mission: to spread the love of God through His word in music.”

Rick will make his first official appearance with the group at the Creekside Gospel Music Conference October 28,2013.

Omega already had a strong sound as a trio, and I’m looking forward to hearing how they will sound as a quartet.

Clips from NQC 2013

As promised, here are a few videos of some performances at NQC 2013. We’ll start with the “debut” of Freedom Quartet:

Next up is the Skyline Boys, with completely new top parts with the return of Jodi Hosterman at tenor and the newly hired Brian Alvey at lead:

Here’s a trio called Omega from GA. They have been on main stage as showcase winners in the past couple of years. New lead singer Kevin Harry filled in for the Dixie Melody Boys before Josh Garner joined. From what I can gather, this was the lineup’s first time on stage.

Finally, up-and-coming group Mark209 sang a Christmas song a regional showcase:

Omega Welcomes Kevin Harry

DSC03011Some of you may remember Omega from the past couple of years at NQC. The group has secured spots on mainstage as showcase winners, performing before the evening concerts. Longtime member Dustin Simmons recently departed the trio, and they have announced a name that may ring a bell with some: Kevin Harry.

Dahlonega, GA – OMEGA is excited to announce Kevin Harry as their new lead vocalist.

The group began searching for the right fit after the recent announcement of departure from Dustin Simmons. The group will miss Dustin not only as a singer, but as a friend. We know that Dustin is following God’s will for himself and his wife Morgan. We wish him great success.

OMEGA says there was one singer that stuck out in their minds, after he had joined them on the road for a few months last year. “We were excited when the call came from Kevin”, states group manager Doug Pittman. “Kevin has one of the best voices in gospel music today. We are very excited to have him on board. He has a tremendous voice that we are sure will bless people, along with his great spirit.”

Kevin has recently been seen filling in for the Dixie Melody Boys while Josh Garner honored previous commitments before joining the group. Ed O’Neal stated “We needed someone that could jump in and not miss a beat. Kevin did a fantastic job. He impressed not only us, but fans everywhere when he was singing with us. He is a first class singer and will be a great addition to OMEGA”. Kevin will make his debut with the group in mid September.

OMEGA is entering the studio in the next couple of weeks with hopes of releasing both a Christmas CD as well as a new radio Project. To stay updated on everything OMEGA go to www.omegaministries3.com

Check out this post from the announcement of Josh Garner’s DMB hire to see Kevin in action with that group.

Omega has turned some heads with their NQC appearances, and adding a name with some recognition will certainly benefit them. I’m looking forward to hearing good things from them going forward.
