Aaron McCune sings with the Oak Ridge Boys

It’s always cool to see a singer from our genre in the national spotlight, and that happened again this past weekend. Richard Sterban, longtime bass singer for the Oak Ridge Boys, took the weekend off as his family mourns the passing of his mother. The group had the choice to go as a trio or call on a bass singer, so they tappedĀ Palmetto State Quartet/Gold City alum Aaron McCune. Here he is singing one of my favorite Oak Ridge Boys hits:

Many have asked how the group even knew about McCune. Here’s a probable answer:

Ever wonder what Austins Bridge would have sounded like with a bass singer? Wonder no more. Here’s one of AB’s radio singles, “He’s In Control,” done by Ryan Seaton’s new quartet and featuring tenor Toby Hitchcock. Hitchcock was tenor for Austins Bridge at one point in their existence.

Union Street Quartet Debuts

Last night, Ryan Seaton’s quartet that has been singing together for a while made their official debut. Seaton, along with Toby Hitchcock, Andrew Goldman, and Aaron McCune, make up the quartet now known asĀ Union Street. Roy Webb was on hand to play piano for this concert, and Hitchcock has even uploaded footage from the group’s introduction of the name and first song, “Boundless Love.”

 

Count me in the number that is looking forward to hearing more out of this group!
