Upcoming Mega-Review

May 29, 2010 By: Aaron Category: Blogging Community, Booth Brothers, CD Reviews, Lari Goss, Mega Reviews, SG Artists, SG Industry News, SG Music

It has been quite a while since one of these has been done, but there is a new project being released that has turned the heads of several bloggers at the same time; so much, in fact, that we felt like a mega-review would be prudent, since the majority of us would have reviewed it at some point anyway. So I, along with bloggers Daniel Mount, Wes Burke, Brandon Coomer, Nate Stainbrook, and Phil Boles, have collaborated on reviewing the new Booth Brothers project, Declaration. It is worth noting that we were able to wrap up the review to have it posted on the same day of the project’s release date (by pure coincidence!)

Fans of both the Booth Brothers and Lari Goss will find plenty to love on this project, so look for the review posted on this and the other blogs on Tuesday.

Legacy Five Releases "Decade" Project

March 10, 2009 By: Aaron Category: Lari Goss, Legacy Five, SG Artists, SG Industry News, SG Music

Hello, all. It’s been quite a while since my last post, but there’s really been nothing going on that I could add anything meaningful to. I’d encourage you to scroll down the page to the blogroll to see what the other guys have had to say lately!

Today marks the release of the 10th Anniversary project of Legacy Five. They’ve released a two-disc project in which the group has put together the original cuts of some of their best-known songs, then re-recorded them on the second disc with all-new vocals and tracks. Songs include: I’m Feeling Fine, Joy, Vessel Of Mercy, I Found Grace, The Prettiest Flowers, Strong in the Strength, That’s What Grace is For, Out Of My Darkness, Jericho Road, and Stepping Out on the Water. Also featured will be three songs the group has never recorded: I Know That I Know, Why Wouldn’t I?, and What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Be looking for a mini-review of the project on this blog.

Also worth mentioning, the group has started work on their next major release, produced by none other than Lari Goss. Mr. Goss has produced some of the finest albums out there, and I for one can’t wait to hear the results from this latest work.

News Roundup

My take on some news items of interest these past couple of days:

Lari Goss Diagnosed With Cancer: I had heard rumblings of this, and a short bit in Greater Vision’s newsletter today confirmed it. He was unable to be in the studio with them recently, and according to Gerald:

“Our friend, producer / arranger, Lari Goss was not able to be in the studio with us, so we were able to use video-conferencing technology to allow him to be involved in the sessions. Our engineer, Bob Williams, was able to provide Lari with the same “audio mix” we were hearing in the studio, and we were able to hear Lari speak back to us through our headphones. We also set up a lap-top computer in the studio so we could see Lari, and he could see us as we recorded. We called it “Virtual Lari”, and it was an amazing experience!…. Lari was recently diagnosed with a rare form of Tracheal Cancer, and is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.”

Dove Brothers Raise Prices On CDs
: Hoo boy…. I could tell when this was announced that an onslaught of angry fans would show up, and they did. However, a smart move on DBQ’s part in sending out an email later that only their online store prices would rise, not those at retailers or their product table. They are also implementing digital downloads of their complete discography, as is Legacy Five.
