Youtube Spotlight: Legacy Five

October 23, 2012 By: Aaron Category: Concert Reviews, Legacy Five, SG Artists, SG Music

Last Friday was a rare opportunity to see Legacy Five at a church only about thirty minutes from my home area of Lynchburg, VA. It was especially worth the trip because it would be my first opportunity to hear the group outside of NQC since the hire of bass singer Matt Fouch. The vocal lineup has gelled even more since the convention, and they are more comfortable with each other on stage and are more used to the vocal tendencies of the other members, making for their strongest sound to date. Check out the videos from the night:

I was glad to hear them bring back “Somebody Sing” from their Heroes of the Faith project. I wish this lineup would do more from that collection of songs!

They did “Shout All Over Heaven” at the request of a lady in the audience, and it was this lineup’s first time to ever stage the song.

  1. Totally agree on L5 bringing back some songs from the Heroes of the Faith album, it’s still one of my favourite L5 recordings.

  3. Aaron Baker says:

The unsung guy in this group, IMO, is Gus. That guy is among the top few tenors going today, and you won’t find a nicer guy! Keep up the great work guys!!!

  4. Concerning the “Heroes Of The Faith” release, “He’s Been There” and “In His Grip” are great songs that should still be sung. I’m not totally sure about how “He’s Been There” would sound with Gus. Seems to me that it’d be hard to beat Tony Jarman’s cut. But who knows….. we’ll just have to wait and see.
